On this edition of Century: Moms Against the Drug War. The organizations Broken No More and Vital Strategies hosted a news conference recently to commemorate Mother’s Day at which bereaved moms, who’ve been negatively affected by the drug war, called for health-based solutions to prevent overdose and an end to the criminalization of people who use drugs. We hear some of the speakers at that event including Dr. Tamara Olt, Executive Director of Broken No More; Kimberly Douglas, founder of Bryce’s Treehouse, and also founder of Black Moms Against Overdose; Gretchen Bergman, Co-Founder and Executive Director of A New PATH, Parents for Addiction Treatment and Healing; advocate Tami Decker; and Joelle Fairchild, harm reduction advocate and board member of the Harm Reduction Action Center in Denver, CO.
