On this edition of Century: Veterans In the Criminal Legal System. The US Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs held a hearing April 15 entitled Programs for Justice-Involved Veterans, a low-key ambiguous title for a rather important hearing. We hear testimony from retired US Army Major General Clyde “Butch” Tate, Chief Counsel for All Rise; The Honorable Lawton Nuss, retired Chief Justice of the Kansas Supreme Court; Corey Schramm, a US Army veteran who serves as a Case Manager on the Johnson County, Kansas Mental Health Center’s Adult Services team; retired US Army Brigadier General David “Mac” MacEwen, Director of the Veterans Justice Commission at the Council on Criminal Justice; and Rose Carmen Goldberg, Associate Teaching Professor and Director of the Veterans Clinic at the University of Washington School of Law.
