01/21/25 Philippe Lucas PhD

Philippe Lucas PhD is a Research Affiliate at the Michigan Psychedelic Center (UMich) and a lifelong cannabis and psychedelic researcher and patient access advocate. Philippe was a founding Board member of the Multidisciplinary Association of Psychedelic Studies Canada and co-founder of the Victoria Association of Psychedelic Studies. He is the Primary Investigator of the Canadian Psychedelic Survey (2022) and co-PI of the Global Psychedelic Survey (2023), and previously coordinated a prospective observational study of ayahuasca as a treatment for trauma and addiction in cooperation with a BC indigenous Band. More recently, Philippe worked as VP, Global Patient Research & Access at Tilray, where he oversaw a comprehensive international clinical and observational cannabis research program.

Philippe has worked with governments around the globe to develop evidence-based drug policies with a focus on harm reduction and safe, legal access, and has received a number of accolades for his patient research and advocacy, including the Americans for Safe Access Researcher of the Year Award 2021, the Cannabis Council of Canada Lifetime Achievement Award, and the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal.

01/21/25 Intersection of Harm Reduction and Homelessness

This week on Century of Lies: The Intersection Between Harm Reduction and Homeless Service Work. Homelessness is on the rise around the world. People who use drugs and who are unhoused, or at risk of being unhoused, are key user groups of harm reduction services. Harm reduction itself is a core principle of the Housing First approach, which is a growing paradigm for work against homelessness in many countries. Despite the overlaps between harm reduction services and homeless services, the two sectors are often siloed. Breaking down those silos and encouraging communication and coordination makes all that work more efficient and more effective.

Ms. Szalavitz has once again exposed the failings of our nations eternal war on drugs.  She stands with the Global Commission on Drug Policy, with presidents, scientists and major media from around the world in exposing the inner workings and horrible ramifications of believing in drug prohibition.

Becker's Buds

Marshall Fogg retired from the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) and Department of Justice (DOJ) as a Chief with 32 years of federal service while obtaining the highest law enforcement awards from the USMS Director, the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, the Federal Bar Association and others, for service above and beyond the call of duty. He was officially honored with a task force plaque displaying ‘Batman’ for his ‘Gotham City’ and super hero characterization while on 24 hour call supervising joint USMS/DEA/State & Municipal enforcement operations nationwide. During his tenure in the USMS he was a member of the Special Operations Group (SOG) aka, SWAT TEAM which, included extensive training in Major Court Security OPS, Scuba Dive Rescue Specialist, Paratrooper, Special Assault Weapons, HandTo-Hand Combat, Improvised Explosive Devices and Foreign Dignitary Protection for the United Nations, General Assembly.
