Director of Drug Use Initiatives at Vital Strategies

Dr. Daliah Heller’s research interests include urban health policy, criminal justice, community-oriented healthcare, and drug use epidemiology and interventions. She is actively involved in policy analysis and research to promote criminal justice reform via healthcare innovation, and law enforcement diversion models for people who use drugs.

Dr. Heller has served as Assistant Commissioner for the Bureau of Alcohol and Drug Use Prevention, Care, and Treatment, at the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, and earlier, as the Director of Harm Reduction in the Department’s Bureau of HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control. Before joining government, she built and led one of the country’s leading harm reduction service organizations, based in the South Bronx.

Dr. Heller’s implementation science experience focuses on drug policy alignment and coordination across municipal government agencies, substance use services integration into general health care, and practice improvement for criminal justice responses to drug use. She is currently the Director of Drug Use Initiatives at Vital Strategies.

This week on Century of Lies: Overdose Awareness. The New South Wales Users and AIDS Association is a peer-based drug user organisation. NUAA strives to improve advocacy for, and services supporting, the diversity of people impacted by stigma and discrimination caused by the criminalisation of drug use across New South Wales through working with a broad range of stakeholders and partners to support system change. NUAA has been holding a series of very informative webinars and online presentations, most recently a seminar entitled Navigating Nitazenes.

Becker's Buds

Marshall Fogg retired from the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS) and Department of Justice (DOJ) as a Chief with 32 years of federal service while obtaining the highest law enforcement awards from the USMS Director, the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, the Federal Bar Association and others, for service above and beyond the call of duty. He was officially honored with a task force plaque displaying ‘Batman’ for his ‘Gotham City’ and super hero characterization while on 24 hour call supervising joint USMS/DEA/State & Municipal enforcement operations nationwide. During his tenure in the USMS he was a member of the Special Operations Group (SOG) aka, SWAT TEAM which, included extensive training in Major Court Security OPS, Scuba Dive Rescue Specialist, Paratrooper, Special Assault Weapons, HandTo-Hand Combat, Improvised Explosive Devices and Foreign Dignitary Protection for the United Nations, General Assembly.
