On this edition of Century of Lies: #FreeDC. The International Network of People who Use Drugs have released a new publication on developing a successful, and sustainable response, to HIV. Entitled No Fix Without Us, this brief identifies essential elements of such a response along with some key opportunities to advocate for them. They held a webinar August 7 to discuss the new report. On this week’s show we hear some of the presentations from that webinar from INPUD Executive Director Anton Basenko and from Richard Elliott, formerly the Executive Director of the HIV Legal Network and now a consultant focusing on HIV, health, and human rights. Plus we’ll hear portions of the #FreeDC press conference and rally from August 11, including speakers Executive Director of Free DC Keya Chatterjee, and founder and Executive Director of the Black Swan Academy Samantha Davis.

The International Network of People Who Use Drugs organized a side event at the recent UN General Assembly High Level Meeting on HIV/AIDS, entitled “The Right to Rights: How do we get there for People who Use Drugs.” On this edition of Century of Lies we hear from two of the speakers: Richard Elliott, Executive Director, HIV Legal Network, and Ernesto Cortes, Secretario, Latin American Network of People who Use Drugs.
