Ahead of World AIDS Day, which is observed each year on December 1, UNAIDS has released a new report entitled Overcoming Disruption, Transforming the AIDS Response. This report details the far-reaching consequences of the international funding reductions and lack of global solidarity which sent shockwaves around the world.
On this edition of Century: Psychedelics In Recovery. Host Doug McVay is joined in conversation by Kevin Franciotti, an addictions counselor, recovery advocate, writer, and one of the founders of a group called Psychedelics In Recovery. Plus, the new federal budget bill includes changes to federal regulations regarding hemp and cannabinoids which some contend imperil the hemp industry.
On this edition of Century: Psychedelic Treatment. The Massachusetts Legislature’s Joint Committee on Mental Health, Substance Use and Recovery held a public hearing on Monday November 10 to consider bills relating to the topics of treatment settings and psychedelics.
On this edition of Century: Harm Reduction and Social Development. The United Nations Second World Summit for Social Development took place November 4-6. One of the side events in the pre-summit activities on November 3, hosted by Harm Reduction International and the Open Society Foundation, was entitled Harm Reduction for Social Development: Strengthening Health, Workability, and Inclusion.
On this edition of Century: Marijuana in the Buckeye State. A bill in the Ohio Legislature would revise the adult use and medical marijuana laws in the state of Ohio and also impose new restrictions on intoxicating hemp products. Senate Bill 56 was passed by the Ohio Senate back in February. The bill then went to the House. House committees in October approved major changes in the language.

The New Zealand Drug Foundation recently launched a major new report entitled Safer drug laws for Aotearoa New Zealand: Evidence to inform regulatory change. The report’s release coincides with the fiftieth anniversary of New Zealand’s Misuse of Drugs Act becoming law in 1975.
On this edition of Century of Lies: Medical Psilocybin. Colorado, New Mexico, and Oregon have all enacted measures to allow for the supervised use of psilocybin in psychotherapy. The state of New York may soon follow suit. The New York State Assembly’s Standing Committee on Health held a public hearing September 30 to examine the potential medicinal value and risks of psilocybin.
